Ghost Scorpion

Elevator Brewing Ghost Scorpion

There are certain things in this world that should never exist: Crocs, sugar free candy, Paris Hilton, most reality tv shows and now this beer.

Ghost Scorpion was picked up at Savor Market for $4.99. Aroma is oily and has a funk to it. First sip was oily. Heat took over almost right away. It burned all the way down. Lips and tongue burned liked there was no tomorrow. Only thing I can say about this beer is dafuq. There is no humane reason this beer should exist.

Wulver Wee Heavy Ale

Thirsty Dog Brewing Wulver Wee Heavy Ale

Thirsty Dog is a brewery out of Akron, Ohio.

Wulver has 12% ABV. Aroma is somewhat sweet. Taste is a bit on the sweet side. A bit of an alcohol taste to it. This is probably the best Wee Heavy style beer I have tried. Picked up the bottle for $6.99 at Savor Market.

Twisted Smile Imperial Pilsner

Unita Brewing Twisted Smile Imperial Pilsner

Unita usually do decent beers. Of the ones I have tried only Baba was one I was not impressed with. This one was picked up at Savor Market for $7.99.

Pilsners I almost always drink when the weather starts to get a bit warmer. I had never tried an imperial Pilsner before this one. It has 9% ABV and 30 IBU. It poured with a nice head. Aroma is malty but not like other Pilsners. Taste does have a bit of sweetness followed by a tad of bitterness. Taste has notes of fruit and grass in it. Kind of an odd tasting beer. Not my favorite beer of all time. Not the worst either but would not seek it out.

Zuberfizz

Zuberfizz creamy root beer.

This time a post about a root beer. It's not the kind with alcohol either. Another one picked up from World Market.

This does have a bit of a root beer smell to it. Taste isn't that strong. Zuberfizz is creamy though. Would rather have a root beer with more of root beer taste to it. Rat Bastard had less of a root beer taste to it. Overall this isn't a horrible root beer, but not the best either. Worth at least a try.

Red Rock Premium Cola

Ok, this isn't about a beer. Do drink other things beside beer. Picked up the bottle at World Market for 99 cents.

This isn't the most cola tasting cola. Red Rock doesn't have much of a bite either. It had a tiny bit of sweetness to it. For a cola with more cola flavor, look elsewhere.

Lemmy Sparkling Lemonade

Ok, this one isn't a beer.

Picked up this for 99 cents at World Market. It was in their retro pop section.

There was what looked like pulp floating in the bottle. Figured if there was pulp, this would taste really lemony. It does have a slight lemon taste to it. Lemmy doesn't taste like any lemonade that I have ever had. It  has a very odd taste to it overall. This is pretty much sparkling water with some lemon. Would not try this one again.

Holy Grail Ale Black Knight's Reserve

Black Sheep Brewery Holy Grail Ale Black Knight's Reserve.

Anything Monty Python is worth checking out. The Holy Grail Ale is a decent beer. Picked up the Black Knight's Reserve for $3.99. 5.7% ABV

Black Knight's Reserve pours a nice reddish brown with a decent head. Aroma is almost caramel like. It's kinda hard to figure out what exactly is in the smell. Taste is a bit toffee/caramel like. A bit on the bittersweet side. What really helps this beer is that it is tempered over burning witches. Worth checking out for fans of brown ales.

Holy Sheet

Heavy Seas Brewing Holy Sheet

From Heavy Seas Holy Sheet page...

Rich, complex and unique. Abbey style ales are transcendent, and ours stands proudly in the ranks. Aged in brandy barrels, Holy Sheet is a mahogany ale brewed with Belgian Abbey yeast, candi sucre, and unique crystal malts. Rounded, spicy caramel flavors mixed with vinous notes and oak overtones, this ale pairs well with quiet contemplation…

Holy Sheet has an IBU of 38 and an ABV of 9%. Savor Market recently got this in. Picked up a bottle for $7.99.

How can anybody resist a beer with a name like Holy Sheet? It conjures a lot of images. Heavy Seas list the style on this one as an Uber Abbey Ale. A Belgian style abbey ale aged in Brandy barrels. This one I had to try. Right away noticed the dark brown color. Aroma is a bit bready and yeasty. Taste was slightly sweet, almost brown sugar like. A bit f the alcohol comes into the picture towards the end. A bit caramel is present. Overall this is one tasty beer. Worth seeking out.

Left Hand Brewing Milk Stout

This is Left Hand's regular Milk Stout. They do have a Milk Stout Nitro which was posted about. No, this does not have milk in it. This one has lactose, which is a sugar found in milk. Have run into people that swore up and down that they could taste the milk in it.

Milk Stout has 6% ABV and an IBU of 25. The pour produced a decent head. Smell is of coffee and chocolate. Taste is just a tad on the sweeter side. Chocolate and coffee notes are present in the taste. Mouthfeel is creamy. This one is for stout lovers. Worth checking out.

Cheerwine

Kind of cheating on this post. Cheerwine isn't a beer, nor has it have alcohol. It's a cherry flavored soft drink. Have seen it at Cracker Barrel but bought this bottle at World Market.

It's a dark red color. It does smell a bit like cherry. It does a bit of a dark cherry taste as well. It's highly carbonated. This was the first time trying this. Cheerwine isn't bad for a cherry flavored pop. I wouldn't drink it all the time. Worth trying.

Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager

Abita Brewing Strawberry Harvest Lager

4.2 % ABV and an IBU of 13. This qualifies as a session beer since it is under 4.5% ABV. I have never been a fan of fruit beers. To me, fruit beers are too sweet and are for people who really don't enjoy beer. The fruit just overpowers what a beer should taste like.

It has a very odd taste to it. Strawberry and beer don't mix. This one is just wrong. Fruit beers have always been low on my list. They are for people who don't like beer but want to drink something with alcohol. My thoughts on this one is to avoid it like the plague.
