Originally had Thunderlips on draft at Savor Pint in December of 2015.

Did pick up a 6 pack this past Wednesday at Savor Pint. $9.99 for the sixer. It was bottled on 11/18/2016. Under a week old.

Thought I had never tried Thunderlips until I looked it up on Untappd. Don't remember drinking the beer, but it was almost a year ago.

Figured today would be the day to drink it. It is Thanksgiving in the United States.

Yeppers.

How did anyone survive before tech?

Thanksgiving gravy is the best gravy.

Johnny Carson perfectly sums up Thanksgiving and family.

PBR would ruin any thanksgiving. Especially if these type of lamps are around.

What to say to a PBR drinker at Thanksgiving.

What happens to PBR drinkers after saying that.

PBR drinkers then have to recover. The only way is to drink PBR the only way they know how.

PBR drinkers favorite mantra..

Thunderlips is listed on Columbus Brewing's website as a year round beer. They took off their regular pale ale. Why not have three year round beers? Don't think it would be that hard. But hey, I'm not the one running the company.

Thunderlips makes me think of a movie from the 1980s with a certain character in it.

Hulk Hogan as Thunderlips in Rocky III.

PBR swillers are probably so turned on right now because Hulk Hogan is their favorite actor and wrestler.

As with other Columbus Brewing products, the graphics and colors are a bit on the subdued side. My thing is they should brighten up the colors a bit to attract more people. Do think that Columbus Brewing is one of the more under rated breweries in Ohio. Great Lakes Brewing and Great Lakes Brewing tend to get more press. Jackie O's is too much of a hipster brewery.

Poured into a Savor Growl glass. About a half inch of head. Really great lacing. Aroma is a bit towards the citrusy side. Seems to be more orange. Very slight grass notes.

Taste seems to be more citrusy more than anything. Orange seems to be the stronger citrus flavor. Some slight bitterness. Tiny bit of earthiness to the flavor as well. Malt is there, but isn't strong. A very drinkable pale ale. One of the better pale ales out there. Rated it 4.5 out of 5, and that could arguably be a low rating.

Happy Thanksgiving

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA

91 BA score and 92 Bros score on Beer Advocate. 98 overall and 98 style scores on RateBeer. 3.9 out of 5 on Untappd.

ABV:
6.0

IBU:
60

RELEASE:
Year Round

ORIGINAL RELEASE DATE:
2003

STYLE:
India Pale Ale

60 Minute IPA is continuously hopped -- more than 60 hop additions over a 60-minute boil. (Getting a vibe of where the name came from?)

60 Minute is brewed with a slew of great Northwest hops. A powerful but balanced East Coast IPA with a lot of citrusy hop character, it's the session beer for hardcore enthusiasts!

Every Beer Has A Story...

In our Quick Sip Clip video below, Sam Calagione talks about the 60 Minute IPA. For some perspective, he compares this beer to its predecessor, 90 Minute IPA, and its big brother, 120 Minute IPA.

Sam stepped out of the brewery for the taping of this Quick Sip Clip and comes to us from the place where it all started: Dogfish Head, Maine.

Cheers!

Bought a 6 pack today at Savor pint for $10.99. It's actually the first time that I have bought a 6 pack of Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. Have bought it on draft and single bottles.

It's also the first time that I have bought this one in bottles since they changed the graphics.

Also went back to the Ohio History Center today. They have a new exhibit on the Korean War.

Some of the photos in the exhibit.

Don't but a lot of Dogfish Head beers. The company is another one of those breweries that I tend to see a lot of their beers everywhere. Hence, I tend to ignore them.

Whereas PBR is always worth ignoring.

Look at what PBR does to it's male drinkers.

Typical phone call that PBR drinkers get.

Also the results of drinking PBR.

Maybe all this stuff about PBR is a bit harsh. Guess I would have to say sorry.

Yep, I'm this sorry.

PBR is pretty much a light beer.

Do like the colors and graphics a bit more than the old ones. Still not that flashy though. Which is a shame. Think flashier packaging would attract more people. Dogfish Head is one of those companies that do a lot of drinkable beers. They do have a habit of doing some of those damn hipster beers though.

This beer always makes me think of the song 60 Minute Man.

PBR drinkers can't last that long.

What glass other than a Dogfish Head glass could I ever pour 60 Minute IPA into? None. Decent head. Some lacing that doesn't last too long. Aroma has some pine and citrus to it. Tiny bit of grass. No PBR drinkers, not that type of grass.

Taste starts off with a bit of citrus. Seems to me to be a bit of orange and grapefruit. Bit of malt to it. Finishes off with a nice pine bitterness. Not an overpowering bitterness. Just enough to know it's there. With an IBU of 60, I thought it would be a bit more bitter than what it seems. Overall, a very pleasant beer. Rated it 4.5 out of 5 on Untappd. It might be a bit generous on the rating but it wouldn't be too generous.
